A hospital trust needed to replace an aging plant room and reroute service risers running above three live wards, with zero tolerance for a clash discovered on site during construction.
A hospital trust needed to replace an aging plant room and reroute several service risers, but the only way to plan the work safely was to know exactly what was running through the ceiling voids above three live wards.
We modeled ducts, pipes, cable trays and supports above the wards from scan data captured during scheduled ceiling access, then ran a clash test against the proposed new routing so the installation team knew every conflict before mobilising.
The programme was phased around six approved access windows, keeping every ward operational throughout the survey and coordination process.

By finding the riser clashes on screen instead of on site, the trust avoided an estimated weekend of emergency rework and the disruption that would have caused to two wards. The coordinated model also became the baseline record used for the trust next capital improvement cycle.
