Scan to BIM for Metro Station Design
Scan to BIM Solutions completed a Scan to BIM project for a high-traffic metro station. The station includes platforms, staircases, service rooms, tunnels, and public access areas. The client needed an accurate 3D model to support renovation work, safety upgrades, and day-to-day maintenance.
The metro authority lacked detailed as-built records. They needed a digital model that reflected the real site conditions. This model would help in space planning, system coordination, and future infrastructure upgrades. Due to constant passenger movement and technical complexity, the project required high precision.
Our BIM experts used laser scan data to build a full 3D model of the entire metro station. The model captured key zones like entrance halls, escalators, underground levels, and mechanical rooms. It provided a complete view of the existing structure for the design and engineering teams.
Solutions
We processed the point cloud data using Autodesk ReCap and linked it into Revit. Our team created a detailed BIM model by tracing architectural, structural, and MEP elements. We included walls, columns, platforms, ducts, cable trays, and equipment areas.
We used Navisworks for clash detection and coordination checks. We followed industry-standard LOD to ensure modeling accuracy. The final model helped the client manage design tasks, renovation phases, and facility upgrades with full confidence.
