Scan to BIM for Industrial Building
Scan to BIM Solutions delivered a Scan to BIM project for a large industrial facility. The site included manufacturing floors, storage areas, loading docks, and utility rooms. The client needed an accurate 3D model to plan maintenance, upgrades, and future construction.
The facility had no updated as-built drawings. The layout had changed over time. The client required a BIM model to visualize the current structure. They also needed to coordinate new mechanical and electrical installations without disrupting operations. Our Scan to BIM service helped them get precise building data in a digital format.
We captured all key architectural and structural elements. This model became a reliable reference for facility management, system upgrades, and safety planning.
Solutions
We received point cloud data from the client. Our team used Autodesk ReCap to clean and align the scan files. Then, we imported the data into Autodesk Revit to start 3D modeling. We created accurate models of walls, columns, slabs, beams, and roof structures.
We also included MEP components like ducts, pipes, and cable trays. We followed LOD 300 standards to maintain consistency and accuracy. We used Navisworks to detect clashes between systems and validate model coordination. The final output included a Scan to Revit model and 2D drawings, ready for project execution and facility use.
