ABOUT THE PROJECT

Scan to BIM Modeling for Amphitheater

Scan to BIM Solutions completed a Scan to BIM project for a large outdoor amphitheater. The structure included curved seating areas, elevated stage platforms, access walkways, and overhead canopy elements. The client needed a precise 3D model to support renovation work, seating layout planning, and long-term facility upgrades.

The existing drawings were outdated and incomplete. The open-air setting and irregular geometry made traditional surveys difficult. The client required a detailed and accurate as-built model that captured the true site conditions. Our Scan to BIM service provided them with a reliable digital foundation for design and maintenance planning.

Our team used laser-scanned data to capture the entire amphitheater. We focused on the unique layout, sloped surfaces, structural supports, and complex geometry of the stage and seating zones. This helped the client gain full control over space planning, audience flow design, and structural improvements.

Solutions

We processed the point cloud data using Autodesk ReCap. Then, we linked the scans into Autodesk Revit to create the full BIM model. Our team modeled every key element including seating tiers, ramps, stairs, stage forms, canopy structures, and support beams.

We ran clash detection and model coordination in Navisworks to ensure accuracy. We followed the required LOD (Level of Detail) based on the client’s needs. The final model was delivered in Revit format along with 2D drawings. This output helped the client start renovation planning with full confidence.
